A short introduction to ATPtourist.com – I’m Stijn (36) and since I was around 8 years old, I enjoyed watching tennis on tv. A bit later I started playing too. As I got older I went to local tournaments in my home country of The Netherlands. For the first time I saw players like Goran Ivanisevic, Jennifer Capriati, Lleyton Hewitt and Tim Henman play live.
As a kid I used to write down every match I saw in a notebook. If it was a lousy match I would give it one star. Up to five for epic ones. Now I take some pictures and write a little something here at ATPtourist.com. I also try to improve my photography skills along the way.
I tend to go to qualifiers and early rounds of ATP World Tour events and Challengers. The grind that players go through at the lower levels fascinates me. The road to glory is tough! I also like to find out about new players.
My favourites right now are Roger Federer, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Borna Coric, Angelique Kerber and Kiki Bertens. Some new kids on the block I like are Mackenzie McDonald, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Naomi Osaka and Maria Sakkari.
