ABN-AMRO World Tennis Tournament, Rotterdam, Netherlands

February 10 – 18, 2018

The best tennis tournament of The Netherlands. It has been organised in Ahoy Rotterdam for many years now. The venue is very well accessible by subway and car. I’ve visited this tournament quite a few times. As a teenager I remember seeing the likes of Tim Henman, Jonas Bjorkman, Magnus Norman, Sjeng Schalken, Richard Krajicek and Alex Corretja. I also remember seeing Mikhail Youzhny trying to qualify very early in his career. The line-up of 2018 was pretty good again.

Roger Federer made the headlines with a win. Roger got back to world number 1 as the oldest ATP player ever. Obviously when Federer is around, the place is packed. Other notables this year included David Goffin, Stan Wawrinka, Grigor Dimitrov, Alexander Zverev and local hero Robin Haase. Canadian youngster Félix Auger-Aliassime made his ATP World Tour debut. He lost an exciting three set battle with Filip Krajinovic but surely showed what he can do.
