Libema Open Den Bosch, Netherlands

June 9 – 17, 2018

It’s been a while since I came to the Libema Open Den Bosch tennis tournament. In fact, it was 17 years ago in 2001. Back then I saw a certain young man named Roger Federer demolish his opponent John van Lottum on centre court, leaving him just one game. Times change but the tournament is still as enjoyable and well organised.

I chose to visit the first qualifying round to see some players in action that I hadn’t seen yet. Later in the week I had a court side ticket for the second round matches, hoping to see Andy Murray live for the first time. Unfortunately, he canceled his trip to The Netherlands just the week before. He still lacked proper match fitness after his injury apparently. Too bad, but I had a blast anyway, watching Tsitsipas, Gasquet, Verdasco, McDonald and more.
